About Me

Some people say you can’t be both a tech geek and a big-picture strategist—but I’ve spent my career proving otherwise. I’m Ashay, a product leader who’s worn hats ranging from intern analyst obsessing over Excel formulas to web developer turning ideas into code, all the way to director managing cross-functional teams that deliver high-impact solutions. You might catch me reviewing wireframes one day and discussing data pipelines the next, because I believe that understanding tech at a deep level is key to building truly great products.

The Road So Far

Starting as an Intern Analyst: I cut my teeth in analytics, building a knack for uncovering insights among rows and columns. That curiosity led me to ask, “How do we transform this data into results?”

Leading Analytics Teams: As a lead analyst, I realized spreadsheets and SQL alone wouldn’t solve every challenge—especially with messy, evolving datasets. So I dug deeper into data engineering, bridging the gap between raw info and meaningful insights.

Building for the Web: My curiosity for web development led me to code front-end experiences and optimize back-end workflows. That hands-on tech experience taught me how to speak the same language as my developers and empathize with their constraints.

Stepping into Product Management: Before long, I found myself coordinating cross-functional efforts—combining user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility into product roadmaps. The thrill of turning an idea into a cohesive vision (and shipping it!) never gets old.

Growing into a Director Role: Today, I lead teams who craft healthcare data solutions, optimizing everything from patient rostering to real-time analytics. My background in data engineering and web dev helps me manage teams more effectively, because I understand the intricacies behind the code while never losing sight of the bigger picture.

My Approach

I see product leadership as a harmonious blend of people, process, and technology.
With people, I focus on empowerment. I create environments where engineers can experiment, analysts can challenge assumptions, and designers can advocate for users. Watching team members grow from individual contributors into confident problem-solvers is one of my greatest professional joys.

For process, I bring a data-driven mindset balanced with user empathy. My engineering background gives me the technical insight to understand what's possible, while my product sense helps me understand what's valuable. This combination leads to decisions that deliver meaningful results – like reducing month-long processes to minutes or transforming fragmented data into actionable insights.

When it comes to technology, I believe in transparent communication. Complex technical concepts need translation, whether I'm explaining architecture to executives or helping engineers understand business priorities. Creating this shared understanding transforms separate efforts into unified momentum. This balanced approach has guided me through each career transition – from analyst to engineer to product leader – and continues to shape how I tackle challenges both professional and personal.

Beyond Work

When I'm not working, you'll find me tinkering with personal dev projects, exploring Seattle's coffee scene, or creating Indian fusion dishes that delight friends and family. Home is where my wife and our pet Frosty are, and nothing beats having friends over for backyard BBQs or board games that inevitably lead to philosophical debates with no conclusion.
